Exercise Bike Benefits
So you know you want to buy some type of home exercise equipment - but why buy an exercise bike? One of the top benefits of exercise bikes is that they are probably the most affordable piece of exercise equipment on the market right now. Starting around $200 and ranging up to $2500, exercise bikes offer a huge variety of models for every price range and every exercise level. It is however advisable to keep in mind that you will get what you pay for with an exercise bike. Don't expect a $200 exercise bike to come with all of the bells and whistles and last you over 3 years. However if you are on a budget, an exercise bike is a great way to get in shape for less. Another great...

Exercise Bikes - No Excuses, 30 Minutes A Day On A Bike Will Change Your Life
Exercise bikes are the ideal home exercise equipment. We are all advised to exercise for 30 minutes per day to stay healthy combined with a good balanced food intake. Most people complain of not having the time to go to the gym or prepare to out jogging etc but if it was for 30 minutes of TV I’d bet that time would be no problem. Why not combine the two, TV and exercise. Watching TV while exercising cuts out the boredom of being locked in a room looking at the four walls exercising. If you have a program you watch on a regular basis the time will only fly in. What exercise bike will I buy? Exercise bikes come in all wonderful styles from the basic stationary bike to built in programs...

Top 10 Reasons To Exercise In The Morning

Author: Greg Landry, M.S.

If I had to pick a single factor that I thought

was most important in a successful exercise or

weight loss program, it would be to exercise first

thing in the morning - every morning! Some mornings,

you may just be able to fit in a 10 minute walk,

but it's important to try to do something every

morning.

So why mornings?...

1. Over 90% of people who exercise *consistently*,

exercisein the morning. If you want to exercise

consistently, odds are in your favor if you exercise

first thing in the morning.

2. When you exercise early in the morning, it

"jump starts" your metabolism and keeps it elevated

for hours, sometimes up to 24 hours! That means

you're burning more calories all day long just

because you exercised in the morning!

3. When you exercise in the morning you'll be

*energized* for the day! Personally, I feel

dramatically different on days when I have and

haven't exercised in the morning.

4. Many people find that morning exercise

"regulates" their appetite for the day - that they

aren't as hungry and that they make better food

choices. Several people have told me that it puts

them in a "healthy mindset."

5. If you exercise at about the same time every

morning, and ideally wake-up at about the same

time on a regular basis, your body's endocrine

system and circadian rhythms adjust to that.

Physiologically, some wonderful things begin to

happen; A couple of hours *before* you awaken,

your body begins to prepare for waking and exercise

because it "knows" it's about to happen. Why?

Because it "knows" you do the same thing just about

everyday. You benefit from that in several ways..

a) It's MUCH easier to wake-up. When you wake-up

at different times everyday, it confuses your

body and thus it's never really "prepared"

to awaken.

b) Your metabolism and all the hormones involved

in activity and exercise begin to elevate

while you're sleeping. Thus, you feel more

alert, energized, and ready to exercise when

you do wake-up.

c) Hormones prepare your body for exercise by

regulating blood pressure, heart rate, blood

flow to muscles, etc.

6. For many people, that appointed time every

morning becomes something they look forward to.

It's time they've set aside to do something

good for themselves - to take care of their body,

mind, and soul. Many find that it's a great time

to think clearly, pray, plan their day, or just

relax mentally.

7. Research has demonstrated that exercise

increases mental acuity. On average it lasts

four to ten hours after exercise! No sense in

wasting that brain power while you're sleeping. :)

8. Exercise first thing in the morning is really

the only way to assure that something else won't

crowd exercise out of your schedule. When your days

get hectic, exercise usually takes a back seat!

9. If finding time to exercise is difficult,

anyone can get up 30 to 60 minutes earlier to

exercise (if it's a priority in your life). If

necessary, you can go to sleep a little earlier.

Also, research has demonstrated that people who

exercise on a regular basis have a higher quality

of sleep and thus require less sleep!

10. You'll feel GREAT! DO IT! :)

Debunking The Top 5 Fitness Myths
There are lots of myths that surround the fitness and exercise field that have no real basis in fact or reality. But they persist anyway, and unfortunately many accept these misconceptions as fact, sometimes even causing harm to their body as a result. So let's debunk the top 5 fitness myths now. 1. No pain, no gain has been a common mantra heard in gyms around the country for years. No doubt it has it's roots in the truth that you have to push your body when exercising or it does no real good. However to take that to the extreme where you don't feel that you have gotten a good workout unless pain is involved is just not true. In fact, the opposite is true. Pain is your body's way of telling you that something you are doing is not right and it usually warns you before major injury happens. So heed the warnings. Realize that some mild discomfort may be experienced when you push your body beyond it's current capacity, but when you go to the point of pain you have gone too far. 2. Another myth is that weight training for women will make them look like Arnold Schwarzenegger. It's just not true. Women have a completely different physical makeup than men, that emphasizes more fat deposits and less muscle mass. It's simply not possible for a normal woman to produce huge muscles by weight training alone. Instead weight training can help strengthen and condition women, improving overall stamina. So don't listen to the myth, some form of weight training is beneficial for everyone. 3. Many exercises have heard that you need to workout on an empty stomach to burn more calories. Again this is just not true. Burning calories has absolutely nothing to do with what is in your stomach at the time when you work out. Burning calories is tied to the length and intensity of your...
